Metal Mayhem ROC recently interviewed Venom Inc. and Destructor about their past, present, and future in the heavy metal world. With both bands continuing to dominate the scene, we covered everything from new music and touring to the undying passion of metal fans worldwide.
Adding to the excitement, Metal Mayhem ROC show correspondent Southern Cal traveled from Melbourne, Florida to Cleveland, Ohio to catch the Venom Inc, Destructor, and Salem’s Child concert firsthand. With a show packed full of classic and new metal, this was a night for the ages.
A NIGHT OF METAL IN CLEVELAND
The night was set for an unforgettable show in Cleveland, where Destructor would perform their classic 1985 album Maximum Destruction. Dave from Destructor expressed his excitement, mentioning that fans could expect a few surprises during their set.
"We’re bringing the energy full force tonight, celebrating the album that started it all for us."
Meanwhile, Venom Inc was prepared to deliver their signature raw, relentless heavy metal brand. Tony Dolan reflected on how the band continues to evolve while keeping the true spirit of Venom alive.
NEW MUSIC & FUTURE PROJECTS
With a career spanning decades, Destructor isn't slowing down. Dave revealed that the band has been hard at work on a new album, already recording five songs and writing four more. Once they return from their Japan tour, they’ll be hitting the studio to complete the record.
"We’re crafting something really special for the fans. The energy of this new material is off the charts."
The conversation also turned to Space Corps, a side project Dave originally started in 1990. He described it as a sci-fi, psychedelic rock experience with heavy influences from bands like Hawkwind. After years on the backburner, the project has been revived with fresh ideas and a solid lineup.
Over on the Venom Inc side, Tony Dolan assured fans that more music is on the way. The band continues to push forward, blending their classic Venom sound with modern elements, making sure to keep their sound fresh while staying true to their roots.
THE CHALLENGES OF TOURING TODAY
Touring the world isn't what it used to be. Tony Dolan spoke about how the logistics, travel, and costs have become more challenging over the years, but the connection with fans keeps them going.
"Things are tougher now, but the passion we see at every show reminds us why we do this. The energy from the crowd makes it all worth it."
For Destructor, touring remains a crucial part of their career. Dave highlighted the thrill of performing live, reminiscing about memorable fan interactions and how the heavy metal community has remained as dedicated as ever.
"Seeing fans who have followed us since the beginning, still headbanging in the front row, is what makes this journey incredible."
THE IMPORTANCE OF FAN SUPPORT
Both bands acknowledged that the dedication of heavy metal fans is unmatched. Tony Dolan emphasized that without the fans, none of this would be possible. Their loyalty fuels the music, the shows, and the drive to keep creating.
"We’re here because of the fans. Every album we release, every show we play—it’s all for them."
Destructor echoed that sentiment, stating that their upcoming music is heavily inspired by the support they’ve received throughout the years.
"The fans have stuck with us through thick and thin. This next album is for them."
WHAT’S NEXT FOR VENOM INC & DESTRUCTOR?
For Venom Inc, the road ahead is packed with new music and relentless touring. Tony Dolan teased future releases, assuring fans that there’s plenty more heavy metal mayhem to come.
As for Destructor, their new album is in the works, and they’re gearing up for another exciting year filled with shows and special events.
"We’re just getting started. Stay tuned—Destructor is coming for you!"
